This is the opening sequence for "Pryor's Place", a half-hour live action children's series that aired on CBS' Saturday morning schedule from September 15 to December 8, 1984, with repeats airing until June 15, 1985. The series was created by and starring legendary comedian Richard Pryor as himself and several other characters, as well as featuring puppets created by show producers (and Saturday morning institutions), brothers Sid and Marty Krofft. Set in an inner city environment that's meant to resemble Pryor's hometown of Peoria, Illinois, the show was basically a Saturday morning version of "Sesame Street", though dealing with more sobering issues that what you saw on the former. Though having gained a reputation as a profane, drugged out, lewd but hilarious comic, by 1984, Pryor had begun to settle down and became more calmer and family oriented, as this series was produced. The theme song was written and performed by Ray Parker, Jr., who had just had the biggest hit of his career with the theme song to the 1984 comedy classic "Ghostbusters"
